Truly anonymous. Private messaging with hidden folders. Free.
This is your recovery passphrase. It is the only way into your account. Write it down and keep it safe — it is never shown again.
You will need it on the next page, so tap Copy before proceeding.

What CryptaChat is
- Private one-to-one messaging that runs in your browser and installs as an app on your phone or PC. Free. Nothing from an app store.
- End-to-end encrypted. Messages and photos are locked on your device before they leave it. Our server only ever holds scrambled data it cannot read.
- Truly anonymous. No phone number, no email, no contacts upload. An account is a username and a recovery passphrase. That is all we know about you.
- Hidden folders. Put any chat in a folder with its own password. While the folder is closed, its chats are gone from the app completely: no names, no counts, no trace.
- True deniability. Open a hidden folder with the wrong password and you get an empty folder, not an error. Nothing shows that messages exist. Even someone holding your unlocked phone and demanding a password cannot prove there is anything to find. Your messages simply stay hidden.
- Locks itself when you leave the app or stop using it. Quick unlock with a PIN or Face ID on your own devices.
- Photos stay inside the app and never land in your phone's gallery.
- Delete for both. Delete a message and it disappears for both people.
- Discreet notifications. An alert only says you have a new message. Never who it is from, never what it says. No embarrassing previews on a lock screen or a shared desk.
- Easy to connect. Share an invite link or a QR code, or tap the chat button on an advert on a partner site.
- Phone and PC. The same account on all your devices.
How it works
- Create an account. Pick a username and write down the recovery passphrase we give you.
- Send someone your invite link or show them your QR code.
- Chat. Move anything private into a hidden folder.
Please know
- Your recovery passphrase is the only key to your account. Lose it and nobody, including us, can get you back in.
- A hidden folder's password cannot be reset. Forget it and its chats are gone for good.
- One-to-one chats only. No groups.
- The Help chat is automated. Its guide runs on your device; questions you choose to send to its assistant are not private.
